Old Hollywood Meets Modern Party: The Los Angeles Wedding I’m Dreaming Of

There’s something about Los Angeles that feels electric. The history, the glamour, the late-night energy — it’s always been a city built on scenes. And if I could design my dream wedding to photograph, it would be one that leans into all of that energy — unapologetically stylish, fashion-forward, and one hell of a party.

The Venue: Iconic LA Energy

I imagine the day beginning somewhere like Chateau Marmont, where history practically oozes through the walls. Getting ready in one of the bungalows, a playlist of Lana Del Rey and disco spinning in the background. Later, a quick stop at El Coyote Café for a rehearsal dinner — margaritas, vintage booths, and the best lighting a photographer could ask for.

These are the kinds of spaces that already tell a story — all I’d have to do is show up with my camera and follow the energy.

The Fashion: Sequins, Feathers, Flash

This day would be about FASHION. Avant-garde and maximalist — the kind of looks that deserve to be photographed on film and with direct flash. Think feather-trimmed gowns, sequined jumpsuits, silk tuxedos, maybe even a bold red lip to tie it all together.

Fashion like this doesn’t just sit still — it moves, it sparkles, it begs to be documented in motion.

The Photos: Film + Flash + Feeling

This wedding wouldn’t be about stiff portraits or overly curated details. It would be about catching the blur of champagne being poured, hands reaching for another martini, glitter catching the light on the dance floor.

I’d shoot a mix of 35mm film and direct flash digital, leaning into that gritty, editorial edge that makes photos feel like a spread from Interview Magazine circa 1978. The result: images that don’t just show what it looked like — but what it felt like to be there.

The Party: No Timeline Stress, Just Energy

I imagine a day that flows — a sunset ceremony, a seated dinner that feels like a supper club, and a reception that turns into a full-blown afterparty. Flash photos of everyone letting loose, the kind you’ll want to hang on your walls because they feel alive.

No forced traditions, no unnecessary timelines. Just great music, great drinks, and a crowd of people who are there to celebrate you until the lights come up.

Why This Is the Dream

This kind of wedding is everything I love about photographing people — the fashion, the energy, the intimacy, the art. If you’re planning something in Los Angeles that feels even a little like this, I’d love to talk.

I photograph weddings throughout Seattle, California, and beyond — and if your wedding feels like the kind of night that deserves to be remembered as the iconic party it was, I’m your person.
